Attracta Courtney's biography

Attracta Courtney is an international editorial makeup artist and beauty expert whose work spans fashion, luxury campaigns and red‑carpet events. Known for her intuitive, skin‑first approach, she has collaborated with leading photographers, designers and global beauty brands throughout her career. Her philosophy blends artistry with a deep respect for skin health, which led her to create the Attracta Beauty Awards - the first practitioner‑led awards dedicated to Slow Beauty and biological integrity.  Attracta’s work is recognised for its modernity, emotional sensitivity and refined understanding of beauty in all its forms.

Attracta’s editorial style is rooted in enhancing the natural architecture of the face with a light, intelligent touch. She is known for creating luminous, lived‑in skin, unexpected colour accents and beautifully balanced details that feel effortless yet intentional. Her artistry is shaped by years of working backstage at fashion weeks, on set with world‑class photographers, and across luxury beauty campaigns where precision, restraint and emotional storytelling define her creative approach.

From the most prestigious glossy magazines to the hottest runways, Attracta’s work is regularly in the spotlight. Gracing the pages of the leading titles, from Vogue to Harper’s Bazaar, Elle to Vanity Fair, Attracta’s modern, elegant look is constantly in demand by editors and art directors across the board. With a wealth of hands-on experience behind her, Attracta’s extensive knowledge is regularly called upon to be shared in sell-out talks, exclusive masterclasses and magazine features. Whether it’s a trend tip for a Beauty Editor or a lecture on the history of make-up, Attracta is a trusted voice of authority - a fact that has led her to consult and write for leading beauty brands such as Prada Beauty, Bourjois, Bioderma and L’Oréal.

In a natural progression for her as a thought-leader, Attracta published her first book, 8A back in 2009, a copy of which is in the archives at the V&A museum. A compilation of style, fashion, beauty and art, it was a space where Attracta could celebrate beauty in all its unique forms. The book was therefore the beginning of Attracta’s mission to champion ‘Slow Beauty’ and challenge the false reality of airbrushed imagery and embrace the honesty of natural beauty. She is passionate to highlight that ageism is not acceptable today in any area and to slow down the angst for instant perfection by addressing the language we currently use in our beauty vocabulary.

Today, Attracta is once again pioneering a first for the beauty industry: the Attracta Beauty Awards. The first ever Awards to be created by a make-up artist, these awards recognise exceptional professional experts, beauty brands and provide a platform for promising emerging ones. Now in their ninth year, the awards continue Attracta’s mission: to highlight the importance of skin health, age-maintenance, emotional and physical wellness and encourage people to create beauty with integrity. Slow Beauty is Attracta Courtney’s guiding philosophy, a mindful, skin‑respectful approach that prioritises long‑term skin health, biological integrity and intentional product use. It champions rituals over routines, quality over quantity, and a deeper connection to how beauty makes us feel. Through her work and the Attracta Beauty Awards, Attracta advocates for products and practices that support the skin’s natural rhythms, honour its biology and celebrate beauty with purpose and consciousness.
